Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast. It is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking. It is not easily angered, It keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, But rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trust, Always hopes, always perseveres.*.* Prayer Requests *.*

The call
Why did I join SERVE? The closer to surface answer would be that I did not do well enough to enter a JC. Which, in it’s own, IS true. But there are other reasons. I do desire to know more about my Glorious Father and how to let my life be a light for Him. I want to be a testimony for Him. I want to be able to encourage and guide others in their walk with Him too! :)
BUT, as I learnt in SERVE, the reason I have the chance to attend this course is by God’s grace! Haha! Praise Him!
The process
I find my stance and attitude towards others being refined in this process of SERVE and through the encouragement given me by the ex-SERVErs. I struggle to allow new people to step into my life, as I don’t like change. I thank God for the group I have, being able to identify individually with the majority. We are a diverse bunch of people blending well together as a team. :D
Lecture time
The program is much more relaxed than I expected. Not like school, where total concentration is demanded and the stress level is high. The content is deep if u take the effort to study and do self-discovery.
I do find it hard to concentrate in several of the lectures. Topics like church history, my group people will start drawing, talking and stuff. Me included! Heh. Oh, did I mention dozing off? Yup, guilty too.
Lecture starts at 9.30 and ends at 1pm, with a half-hour break in-between. We have daily picnics of chocolates, sweets, biscuits, chips, etc. u name it. The picnics extend our concentration and keep us awake, yet make us fall sick. :P
Group time
I enjoy the group time we have. It is often and enjoyable. Chatting with each other during breaks, free time, outing and lunch. I made a comment to my cell leader – saying that the time spent wasn’t exactly productive to the maximum. So, she answered me that it wasn’t measured by the ‘practical things’ you’ve learnt. The true treasures are the fellowship you have with the people you meet at SERVE. Where, all the hearts are pointed towards God and intent on finding out more about Him. She added the question: “Where else would I be able to do this, and find such friends?”
Learning experiences
We have lessons on kingdom thinking, character and community. Things like how to apply the ‘Beatitudes’ to our lives, church history, the Lordship of Christ, how to hear and know God through His Word.
On Saturday afternoons I help Uncle Patrick and Auntie Kim Chin with the Junior Church. Other duties included organising the resource library, bulletin board and taking care of the kids.
Mission exposure will be at a local hospital and at a family center in end-February.
Conclusion
We are asked to raise $100 with this support letter, which will be used for ministry expenses.
Thank you, for praying and walking alongside me all this time. Please continue to keep me in prayer that I’ll be able to understand what is taught and never forget it. That SERVE will not be a passing phrase in my life, but a starting point. Most importantly, for daily strength to grow and trust God.
